10 HOLIDAY GIFTS FOR PETS AND THEIR PARENTS

Giving season is for EVERYONE, and that often includes our pets. Do you know someone who calls their pet their “fur baby”? Do they identify as “Cat Mom” before they use their own name? Are you the lucky “Auntie” or “Uncle” for a friend’s four-legged friend? Gifts for pet lovers are everywhere and can suit every budget, so whether you’re buying for a dog lover, a cat lover, or someone who leans more exotic, there’s something for all creatures on your list, both great and small.

  1. The Ultimate Dog Park Accessory. The TreatPurse by Cocoa & Onyx falls into the “Why didn’t I think of that” category. Created by stay-at-home mom turned entrepreneur Courtney Smith, these bags are stylish enough to wear on their own, but they contain a secret compartment in the back to store those unsightly poop bags that dog owners have to take with them everywhere. With various styles and colors, walking your dog has NEVER been this stylish! I don’t even have a dog and I want every bag in this collection.

2. Paw-trait of Love: Immortalize your pal’s pet by going all Leonardog with a custom framed photo! There are plenty of internet sites to choose from, but this shot from West And Willow made me smile–and again, I don’t even have a dog. However, my cats would look pretty cool like this, too.

3. Purr-fect Distractions. As a cat owner, I can tell you that my two spoiled babies are only interested in playing for short amounts of time before they decide they’re too good to hang out with me. And if I can keep them occupied while not scratching up the new couch, even better. So this Catify scratcher fits the bill thanks to the elusive Whiffle Balls inside. It’s also strong enough for my beasts to perch on top of while never quite getting the prize.

4. Customize, Customize, Customize. If you have a picture of something, it can be printed on pretty much anything. Pet gifts are especially prime for this, and you can get as creative as you want. I love the idea of your pet’s face all over some socks or a blanket, it just makes me smile. And I bet I’m not the only one this would work on. And I found a bunch more, yay fun personalized gifts you never thought of! That’s why I’m here, friends.

5. Keep Them Close. They can’t always take their pet with them, but they’ll always take their keys. Now they can have both in their pocket without any mess whatsoever thanks to the “Life-Like Keychain.” I’m not sure how “lifelike” a pet can be on a keychain, but let’s go with it because it’s the holidays and also because of this adorable Corgi.

6. CATegory Is: Make ‘Em Laugh. When I saw this cat face pillow, I laughed out loud, as the kids say. Maybe because it kind of looks like my cat Duke, or maybe because of the expression, but I think walking into your living room and seeing that on your couch would make you do the same. I embrace all silliness at the holidays, and this is another customizable gift, so start scrolling through your friend’s Facebook to find the best furry face photo.

7. Keep It Clean. I learned about this black-clothing-and-all-furniture-saving bit of genius from a TikTok friend, and now I’m sharing the knowledge with you because we don’t gatekeep. The ChomChom Roller Pet Hair Remover is an essential item for literally every pet owner, especially that one friend who has that one couch you never sit on because it’s “the dog’s couch.” All you do is roll it over the spots where Spot shed, then empty it out. It’s more environmentally friendly than traditional lint rollers because it never runs out of sticky tape–because it doesn’t use any! And it’s a bargain at $25 or less.

8. Tanks, Chum! Not every pet owner has a dog or cat for whatever reason, with the main issue being allergies. It seems we all have that one friend with a huge aquarium, and while having one can bring hours of calm, it can also be expensive. So what to get that afFISHianado on your list? I’m bait-ing these fun shark earrings from Etsy would make a splash.

9. The Ridiculous AND the Sublime. No, I don’t know why this exists in the world, but I’m delighted that it does. Again, embrace silliness is an additional joy of giving gifts. Does anyone’s cat need what Chewy.com calls a ‘Frisco Giraffe 51″ Wicker Cat Tree & Condo’? The cat in this photo doesn’t seem so sure, and I’m also not sure what my cats would make of it or where I would put such a thing. However, I’m hoping someone who sees this takes the leap and gifts this, just so they can send me the pictures of the reaction from both the cat and its owner.

10. Food, Glorious Food! Ask any pet owner what their biggest expense is, and they’ll probably tell you it’s feeding their fur baby. Just as there are food delivery companies for humans, there are now the same options for busy pet parents who want fresh and healthy meals for their pets. From the ones who need specialized diets to the “Oh, they’ll eat whatever I give them” pets, there are delivery services for every animal at various price points. They also have cute names like “Nom Nom Now.”
